Percy French was perhaps Ireland's most famous songwriter, poet and entertainer.
Every Irishman is well acquainted with such songs as 'The Mountains of Mourne', 'Phil the Fluter's Ball' and of course 'Flattery's Mounted Fut' and who can forget that immortal refrain 'Come Back, Paddy Reilly, to Ballyjamesduff'?
Song writing was, however, merely one of the sidelines of a varied career that included landscape painting, writing sketches, verse and monologues and the all embracing one, of entertaining from the stage and platform - the last named including his lifelong love of playing of the banjo.
We hope this site brings to closer to this amazing man's talents.
The Percy French Society.
Remember me is all I ask, and yet. If the remembrance be a task - forget! ~
